Approval of the December Minutes was held due to lack of a quorum.
II. RECOMMENDATIONS AND REPORTS i
A. Agency Liaison Reports
lessen reported that the topics discussed at the school board - village
meeting Thursday, January 6 will be included for discussion on the
February Park and Recreation Commission agenda. A brief discussion of
park-school planning followed: Anderson pointed out that the key to
j park-school facility planning is the educatiors 1 philospohy of the I
school district . Some possibilities for facilities in conjunction with I
schools are an ice arena-fie ldhouse-pool, including hand ball courts,
indoor track and many other facilities for community as well as educational
use.
B. Winter Recreation Report

C. Skating Rink Progress Report
lessen said that the ice has been lousy for the most part so far this year
but that today it's in its best shape and improving. New maintenance man
hired for parks, works a 40 hour week - 3 days, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, and two nights Friday Saturday. This is the main reason for
improving ice.
D. Recommended 1972 Winter-Spring Recreation Program i
Report on File
Garens asked why boys weren't included in beginning gymnastics and
suggested including tumbling for boys in that program. lessen said that
the addition would be made.

E. Forest Hills Sports and Health Rooms.
Garens asked what plans, if any, had been considered for equipping the
Sports and Health Rooms at the Forest Hills School. lessen said that a lay-
out of the room had been drawn and estimated the cost at from $10-15,000

to furnish and equip both areas. Plans for this facility will be discussed at
1 tho Fobruaiy mooting.
