Minutes The meeting was called to order by Marvin Erickson. M/Garens, S/Holasek
that the minutes of July 13 be approved as corrected. Carried. N'
Bound Lake Business at the beach has been slow, Jessen reported, even though 1-
Eeach season tickets have been offered, advertised by flyers door to door.
Lessons finish this week and the beach may close Aug. 23 with an announce-
ment in the paper. There have been no complaints this month about swimmers'
itch the water is clear, the best this year, the eoliform count is
down, but so is the lake level.
Improvements being considered for next year:
Uell -- to maintain lake level, flood skating rinks, water ball fields etc.
Fill -- to make a more consistent bottom for the beach, and changing
the angle of dock, and its location. Sand can be put on the ice
this winter.
Erickson said he would like to firm up plans for Round Lake as soon as
possible. Jessen expects to have more information at Sept. meeting.
Ball fields will be seeded this fall; if can fertilize and water them,
they will have a rood start for next year.
Final Sumner The only chanrre from the previous report was the elimination of the
Rec. Reprt. 9 o'clock swimminr class, putting; it with the 11 o'clock class, makin}
a total of 123 students -- 61 at 10 and 62 at 11.
Organized athletic program is completed. Ecklund-Swed7.und and Mts teams
were winners in the menls leagues. Couples team holding eliminations tonight.

Both infields are in rood condition but the outfields are rough. There
have been no complaints since -the teams understood this at the beginning
of the season. Trophies to winners cost $48 -- a lot for the money.

iummer Play- Questionnaires like the sample on file with minutes, were mailed last
ground Eval Friday to parents of playground participants. The budget and plans for
uation next year will be based on the reaction. A questionnaire will also be
sent to parents of those in skill classes such as swimming.
Fall ProE,;ram Jessen reported that he had meNt with Principals Connaughty and Hallett
and Supt. Vier wood to discuss plans for school-village participation.
He said the school irill be very cooperative -- a bus will be available
after school; schools will be available 31 nights a week. The schools �
will sponsor the more academic type classes while the village will take
care of the leisure type activities. A brochure will be prepared jointly.
The school paper will carry news of the Teen Center.
Aur;. 23 will be Parents Day of Teens at the Center in cooperation with
tho AFS which is having! an ice cream eociai. There will be an ice cream
eating contest, free hamburgers and a dance in the evening.

Snowmobile Ord. Jessen attended a meeting of the Henn. County League of Municipalities
Ntg. Report regarding; a uniform ordinance on snowmobiling to facilitiat handling of
t" violators. The ordinance discussed was essentially the same as E.P.rs
with a couple of exceptions. Jessen said he would talk with the local
group to get their feeling.
M/Lieb, S/Holasek that the Commission favors further study re: a
uniform metropolitan ordinance on snomobiling. Carried.
Jaycee Round Lk. Bean Holasek said they are looking for trees' 811 in diameter to
Project move to the beach area for shade. Companies that do this work might
charge $100 per tree, so they are looking for donations from residents.
Moving could be done with village equipment, Dean said. Jessen said he
could put a story in the paper asking for trees.
Holasek said the Jaycees hope to sponsor a "Do-something" prgect at
Round Lake, possibly Sept. 19-20, to get lots of residents out to clear
a portion of the N.E. shore, clean up the shoEeline, rake and seed.
They would like to get the trees in first.
Teen Center Don Nolander said there have been trips such as inner tubing down the
Report & Tour Apple River, attending concerts etc. , ending at the Center for snacks.
There have been dances Friday nights with big and no-name bands. Commun-
ications throughout the village were difficult earlier, but are better
now that many have returned from vacations. Having food at the Center
has increased its us , and during football season it is hoped there will
be lots of hungry p lers after practice. Don prints a calendar of
events and then notes which ones worked the best. There has been little
use of the Center on Sundays, plans are to close Sundays after Aug. 23.
Most leadership has come from Sophomores and Juniors but participation
has been from 7th grade all the way up.
Lieb said the Lions were interested in using the area for an auction-
rummage sale Sept. 19, using the Center porch for the auction stand.
They would like the Teens to work a concession stand and Nolander felt
sure he could get a group to do it.
The meeting, adjourned to the Teen Center for inspection. Improvements
made since the last official inspection last winter were very evident.
'rhe whole place was clean and neat; a stage for performers and "new"
furniture on the main floor a snack bar with facilities for refrigeration
and heating of pizzas and sandwiches, and the on the ceiling downstairs. +
Moisture on the floor had made it necessary to remove carpeting which
had been laid downstairs.
Those whose diets allowed it enjoyed some delicious pizzas served and
prepared by Chef Nolander.
