Eden Prairie Village Hall present: Daniel Boos, Chairman, Marvin Erickson, 6dilliam Garens, Robert Gartner, Dean Holasek, Dennis Kalmon, Robert Lieb, Nan Jean Bofencamp, Frances Blacklock. Marty Jessen, Parks and Recreation Director. Minutes ICl/Lieb, S/Garens that the minutes be approved as corrected. Carried. Requests for Hopkins Elks have asked to use Round Lake Park for a picnic for Round Lk. for 300 people. The consensus reaction was "No;" that we don't know large picnics what the local use will be and there are o':.1y ter, tables. 300 people would swamp the whole park including the beach. Rosemount Engineering would like to use all fields for a 32-team tourney. Consensus reaction was "No;" the fields simply are not ready -- maybe next year. Summer Recreation Jessen gave each member a tabulation of registration as of today. Registration Swimming registrations are still coming in; have 240 registered of a possible 360. 108 are registered for playground activities. Some activities may be scratched the end of this week for lack of registra- tions such as boating shills, creative dramatics and gymnastics. May combine adult and teen classes in tennis and golf. Although there are few riding registrations, the stable handles these. Summer school is offering creative dramatics also, so next year perhaps the roc program should not duplicate any program of the school Is and work this out in advance. Gartner suggested discussing plans with the School Board. Garens suggested if funds are short that a sailboat not be purchased; he does not feel Round is a sailing lake. Village in some cases can run a program at a saving to taxpayers by charging user fees that cover costs of a specific program. Now have 78 5th and 6th grade girls in softball program. Beach officially opens June 13• Season ticket sales for beach (now 64) will probably pick up after beach is open. Teen Council Teens have had some financial successes. Teen Dance last Sat. was Hared tb the school for more room. About 240 attended, netting $90. Pontoon boat rides at Schooner Day June 6 netted $60. Teen Center admissions were not up to expectations -- perhaps admission to the Center should have been free, with charge for refreshments, rather than an admission fee to cover everything. Jessen said the entertainment by local students was good. A Teen Activities Coordinator has been hired; Don Nolander, a senior at the U. He will drive the swimming bus in the mornings and work 30 hours at the Center - including every evening except Wed. and Sunday. Have a een softball team competing* with surrounding community teams. Drop in schedule for Center will start this week. Teens may run concession for menus league night. Concession stand moved into place and ready to go except for heavier wiring. Probably will purchase ice cream cooler, pop corn machine and hot dog steamer. Two high school students will man stand, taking beach tickets and cleaning up beach. E.P. Park and Recreation Mts. June 8, 1970 Page 2 Land Dedica- Jessen showed members plats of land that have dedicated 5% or more C tion for village park land. These are: North Hillcrest Court - Eklund and Swedlund, with about 4.0% of land dedicated.—much of it flood plain, along Purgatory Creek; Cedar Forest by Semrad with about 215 feet width along Riley Creek; and Maplewood Park Estates by Dornkemper with about 120 feet on north side of Riley Creek. lnderson Lakes Jessen said there will be a progress meeting at E.P. Village Hall, Friday, June 12, 1:30 p.m. Boos asked that someone from Commission be present -- that he would be out of town. M/Garens, S/Kalmon that the meeting be adjourned.
