Parks and Recreation - 04/05/1965 I' i I . j i 1965 APRIL 5 r • i MINUTES CITY OF ED►EN PRAIRIE EDEN PRAIRIE PARK AND RECREATION MEETING April 5, 1965, 8:00 p.m. i Eden Prairie Village Hall Present: Don Nygaard, Howard Merriman, Frances Blacklock Guest: Bill Holte, Summer Recreation Director U/Merriman, S/Blacklock that the minutes of the last meeting as printed be approved. Carried. Summer Many aspects of the Summer Recreation'Program were discussed such as: Recreation Starting date Field trips Program Length of program in weeks Bus insurance Hours Adult events Place Supervised lunch hour Special events Equipment Hired assistants Inviting well—known personalities Track meet Dramatics Mr. Holte will consider all of the discussion and return at the May meeting with firmer plans for Commission approval., and a budget of the Program's needs. Mr. Holte will find out the cost of insuring one school bus for transportation needs; also the cost of reactivating a tennis court C_ behind the elementary school. The Commission gave Mr. Holte a tentative figure of $150 for hiring assistants. Watershed M44erriman, S/Blacklock that the following Resolution be adopted and Resolution sent to the Village Council. Carried. The Park and Recreation Commission of Eden Prairie has thoroughly discussed the development of a Watershed District program as presented by Mr. Raymond Haik at a special meeting on January 20, 1965. It is the unanimous opinion of the Commission that Purgatory Creek Watershed District should be established, due to the possible benefits of Parks and Recreation in Eden Prairie as whole. We wish to encourage the Village Council to thoroughly consider the establishment of this District (signed) Eden Prairie Park and Recreation Commission _bnorsI M/Merriman, S/Blacklock that the names of the three donors of Sterling Plaque Field Park be engraved on a plate and placed on the plaque to be hung ( in the Village Hall. Carried. i Copies of The Secretary was instructed to mail copies of the Long Range Park and Park Plan Recreation Plan to members of the Village Council and the Zoning Commission with a covering letter. i Eden Prairie Park and Recreation Commission Meeting, April 5, 1965 Page 2 I i Bill for Long M44erriman, S/Blacklock that the bill from the University Range Plan of Minnesota for $27.23 be paid. This covers the total expenses for the "Long Range Park and Recreation Plan► as Imepared by the Physical Education Dept. The bill is to be forwarded to the Council for payment. Beach Survey The Secretary was instructed to inquire of Quentin Wood about the survey requested by the Park Commission of the Riley Lake beach. Figures will be needed before plans can be made for the summer. M/Merriman, S/Blacklock that the meeting be adjourned.
