The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
M/Merriman, S/Blacklook that the minutes of the August 20
meeting as printed be approved. Carried.
Summer Recreation Bill Holto gave a resume of the past summer's programs He
Program Report reported that it Was necessarily a limited program duo to
the budget and facilities, but that, under the circumstances,
he thought it could be considered a succosaful program. A copy
of Linda Brekkess report to the S.R.Ae will be sent to the
E.P. Park and Recreation Commission,
Attende►nae -- 30 to 50 children a day with 70 to 60 some days. s
Excessive heat and transportation problems probably cut down
attendance. Noon hour arrangement with Linda worked cut well.
Suburban Recreation-CMtLsts - E.P. could not participate since
- 11 we had no tennis or horseshoe courts and no track or baskets.
Next summer the track and parking lot baskets will be available.
Q611 Program - This worked out well on Thures mornings at Cedar
Hills. Attendance averaged 25.

QV a Kick, Pass and-Puna contests - To be supervised in F.P.
this fall by Elementary School teacher, Mr. Dewhurstj run-offs
and prises by S.R.A.
More pumrvisiog_- Wide spread in ages and interests of the chil-
dren makes it difficult to have gasses and activities appealing to
all. Bill suggests that perhaps two or three Sth and 9th graders
could assume charge of some games or equipment if paid a nominal
fee. Trampbline, gymnastic equipment and track need someone in
charge at all times. More group games and musical games in gym
could have been used with more help.
Bs� - About $b0 was spent this past summer on miscellaneous
equipment from money in the Recreation checking account. That hind
has been exhausted and the account closed, leavimng an unpaid
balance due at Hokesh Hardware of $9.01. The Secretary was instruo-
ted to request of the Village Council that this bill be paid,
charging it to the Park and Recreation Fund. Some golf clubs
were donated and several chaildren purchased their own.
Ngii,_hb2Ehoc_d Mitram - The idea of trying tvo or throe half-day
recreation programs in key neighborhoods next sumtmser was considered
a good one if it can be worked out. No action taken.

taa• •. Lt present Linda Brekke is storing equipment
records at her home. When the Village Ball is completed the
Commission will try to get theme stored there, a couple of
shelves and some file space are needed.
Plaps for ne2d sugar_ - To be put on the &pril, 1965 agendas
in order to purchase needed equipment and get out publicity in time.
meter §,parts - The possibility to clearing some skating rinks
if the Village has the proper equipment for plowing and water
pumping Was discussed. If volunteer instructors and a time at
a ski hill can be obtained, a ski instruction program could be
possible. To be discussed further at the next meeting.
Hennepin County Park The Secretary was instructed to ask Mr. John Taman to send
copies of Les Blackl ook's and Mr. Taman's letters regarding a
Hennepin County Park to Don Nygaard who will send them with a
cover letter to members of the Minneapolis Park Hoard for their
information.
Donations of Park Land Don Nygaard reported that he had written to lb suburban communities
by Subdividers asking what their policies were. Of the 9 replies, 3 have ordinances
requiring donations of park land but otie does not enforce it. One
said the latee legal opinion should be checked before anfbrcemsnt
is tried. facie have resolutions. Six have nothing. (There may
be a State Statute requiring developers to donate land.) Before
the E,P. Village Attorney is asked for an opinion, we should have
opinions from the two absent Commission members. There may be
more preferrable ways of acquiring park land to get the right type
of land where we want it and in large enough pieces to make it
feasible to maintain.
Gifts to the Park and Dvu-Ntgaard suggested that, to encourage gifts of g„k 3mn1-#iquip-

Watershed District Tabled until next meeting.
Budget Don Nygaard has presented the Budget of the E.P. Park and Recrea-
tion Commission to the Village Council and obtained assurance of
its approval. The sum will be $3,9001,
kory-o with $600 going to the County.
Publicity The Secretary was instructed to inform Dave Dale of the plans
and aims of the Park and Recreation Commission.
