Planning Commission - 06/07/1960 REGULAR. MEETING ZONING AND PLANNING CO1a4I,SSION EDEN PRAIRIE TOWNSHIP Juhey � I960. Members present: A.W.Miller chairman F.G.Holasek A.R.Hirt J.F.Gage Meeting called to order bg the chairman at 8:00 pm. Minutes of the previous meeting approved as read. Kutcherls,Second Addition. Necessary legal papers were not received prior to this meeting, therefore no action could be taken regarding re-zoning.There was little comment by the parties interested, for or against the request fo rezoning. Milan Karkach 6449 Birch Island Rd. ,Hopkins, appealed asking for approval to construct an extension (boiler room) to his present building; said boiler room would touch his property line on the south-east. Motion by Holasek;that approval be recommended, to allow Karkach to construct addition to s.e. , property line.motion seconded, and unanimously approved. Dr.Swendseen and Mr.Alexander appeared before the comm- ission,- requesting approval of -a permit to mine rock and gravel at town road#39 and highway #I8.Crushing and mining equipment had been brought in some two weeks previous, and mining is in full swing, without a valid permit. A permit in the form of aletter dated April 4,I954, by the Town Clerk; apparantly Swendseen thot entitled him to operate. Tests were made at tha-f—tim.e, howeverthese tests proved the material unsuitable.Frank Tesarak stated his objections, and presented a petition signed by fifteen to twenty home owners, condeming the mining of gravel at this location. It was the unanimous decision of this commission that the Town Board deny Dr.Swendseen a permit to mine gravel and thrush rock at this location. Harold Ravenholt has sold his present property in Eden Prairie. He introduced a Mrs. Regert, who would like to purchase his grocery stock, and operate as a grocery on her property of 12 acres, on #66, next to Jarrets.; new location would have to be rezoned to commercial. No further action taken. Leonard J. and Hubert A.Mason, appeared and now request their land be rezoned--back to commercial. Motion made by Holasek; that we deny request of Mrs.Louise D.Schmidt as outlined in her letter of April 4, I960; motion seconded and unanimously approved. Wheaton ,Thomas Investment Co. , 6I00 Excelsior, Blvd., Mp1s.I6, requests re-zoning 4section of land lying go- h of Co. Rd.60 and north of highway #5. We would suggest delay at T11IStime any change in re-zoning from residential to commercial due to freeway. We recommend approval of plat of Gullicksonts Paradise Valley, and bond to cover, Eden Prairie Construction Co. There being no further business, meeting was adjourned by the chairman at IT30 pm.
