inr, statenent was read by the mayor :
" Fel l oi% Council iiembers , Staff ant Ladies and Gentlemen :
"Oil behalf of the Council , it is my pleasure 4o report to you that
tie have arrived at an understanding of the management problems vie
.lave been concerned lath . Ultimate resolution , of course, rests ,
in the demonstration of hoar viell our understanding and cooperation
works in the future . In individual conversations the council mem- t
Lers have had with each other and t-iitb i•ir. Heinrich , I an happy to.
say tie are unanimous in our agreement and understandings .
" Il- seems to me it serves no purpose to reviesv all of the events
:i;:icil led up to our meeting of last Tuesday evening . Any attempt
at this time to justify anyone ' s actions , whether ts'iey be staff
or council , t•:ould be unwise .
"Odor everyone will be pleased t-ti th our decision . 0y the same
token , if another action were to be taken , not everyone would be
pleased with the alternative . itei tiger is it possible to t-teigh this
decision or an alternative one in a balance and say : this one
g;is more favorably or unfavorably titan the other.
... "f,t this tine , it is far better for us to address our thoughts to
citose matters upon winch there is agreement . I think t-ie can all
agree that we have had a controversy. s!e can also agree we have
;;a i ned s o;.tethi i1g from it. lie have grown in the tray families and
individuals grot•t ;then they have experienced trying situations .
On3 fact should be apparent to outsiders and it is this : ue do
t;ii figs differently in Eden Prairie , but we do them openly, we be-
lieve vie do them fairly and; 1.1e do them with refreshing candor .
" I believe I speak for each mernber of this Council and for I-ir.
einrich when I say that all of us have gained more respect for
each other and for our citizens . He have also gained a neat desire
to go forward and build a greater conmuni ty. Let no also assure
everyone that no one has sacrificed any principles in arriving at
this decision . Neither has any Member of -this council or staff

rather, what r:e say to you tonight comes from our hearts , individ-
ually and collectively .
" Finally , I t;ii n:t we are in agreement that we seek neither praise
oor criticism for the action tie have taken . t!e do , ho!•iaver, seek

riith the future of Eden Prairie and its citizens . "

" It is with deep respect and grateful appreciation that I ac-
knowledge the couiicil ' s resolution of a most difficult and
sensitive problem . I pledge ny complete cooperation and sup-
port of council policies and eagerly anticipate council
guidance and direction . "
A ;Notion was made by i•ir. jcCulloch seconded by Wr. Penzel to adjourn
the iaeeting at 7 : 50 P .N. ;ietion carried unanimously.
