HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2012-149 - Summary of Ordinance 33-2012 - 11/20/2012 CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE HENNEPIN COUNTY,MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 2012-149 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO.32-2012 AND ORDERING THE PUBLICATION OF SAID SUMMARY WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 32-2012 was adopted and ordered published at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Eden Prairie held on the 201h day of November, 2012. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNSEL OF THE CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL FINDS, DETERMINES, AND ORDERS AS FOLLOWS: A. Ordinance No. 32-2012 is lengthy. B. The text of summary of Ordinance No. 32-2012, attached hereto as Exhibit A, conforms to M.S. § 331A.01, Subd. 10, and is approved, and publication of the title and summary of the Ordinance will clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the Ordinance. C. The title and summary shall be published once in the Eden Prairie News in a body type no smaller than brevier or eight-point type. D. A printed copy of the Ordinance shall be made available for inspection by any person, during regular office hours, at the office of the City Clerk, and a copy of the entire text of the Ordinance shall be posted in the City offices. E. Ordinance 32-2012 shall be recorded in the Ordinance Book, along with proof of publication, within twenty (20) days after said publication. N c yra-LAedZwor ATTEST: Ka leen Porta, City Clerk EXHIBIT A CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 32- 2012 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA, AMENDING CITY CODE CHAPTER 3, RELATING TO MUNICIPAL AND PUBLIC UTILITIES, AND ADOPTING BY REFERENCE CITY CODE CHAPTER 1 AND SECTION 3.99 WHICH,AMONG OTHER THINGS, CONTAIN PENALTY PROVISIONS. The following is only a summary of Ordinance No. 32-2012. The full text is available for public inspection by any person during regular office hours at the Office of the City Clerk. The Ordinance amends City Code Chapter 3 by: The Ordinance updates the regulation of utilities in a variety of ways including replacing the term Cable TV with the term Cable System, deleting the Industrial Users Strength Charge, revising the billing process for municipal utilities, revising meter accuracy look backs to six years, revising the procedure used to assess unpaid utility charges, removing years from statutory references, adding a subdivision number to the water and sewer connection certification provisions, removing Deputy from the reference to the City Clerk, deleting the subdivision on unmetered service, adjusting storm water classifications, setting of rates, and billing provisions, and incorporating, by reference, City Code Chapter 1 and City Code Section 3.99, which contain provisions relating to penalties.
