HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 86-308 - Declaring The City's Appreciation for Dedicated and Outstanding Public Service Form Paul Redpath - RESOLUTION NO. 86-308 A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE CITY'S APPRECIATION FOR DEDICATED AND OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE FROM PAUL REOPATH WHEREAS, Paul Redpath has served countless, dedicated hours of public service to the City of Eden Prairie in official capacities as follows: Councilmember, 1966 - 1972; 1978 - 1986; Mayor, 1972 - 1974; Planning & Zoning Commission, 1976 - 1978; Hennepin County League Bd. of Directors, 1972 - 1973; Met. Council Transportation Adv. Committee, 1972 - 1973; Metro League Open Space - Land Use Committee, 1972 - 1973; Metro League Nominating Committee, 1972 - 1973; Metro Trails Committee, 1972 - 1973; Southwest Sanitary Sewer District, 1966 - 1968; Nat' l League of Cities Environmental Commission, 1972 - 1973; Suburban Rate Authority; City Hall Administrative Office Space Committee, and WHEREAS, Paul Redpath has and continues to serve his commuity in many other ways, including the following: - Volunteer service to PROP, providing assistance to those in need of food, shelter, and transportation; - Service to the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce as a past Director, committee member, and new member recruitment; - Service to the Eden Prairie Foundation as a Director and committee member for the annual Foundation Ball; - Service on the Board of Directors of Cornerstone, providing shelter for battered women; - Service to the south metro area chapter of the American Red Cross Board of Directors; - Service to Southdale YMCA as a Boardrnember; - Service to the Eden Prairie Schools as Committee member for bond referendums and speaks to elementary school students about City government; - Service as a member and on various committees of the Eden Prairie Lions Club and the Rotary Club; - Service to youth by being instrumental in forming the Eden Prairie Youth Athletic Association; - Service on the Metropolitan Council as a member of Transportation Advisory Committee; and - Service on the Metro Airport Task Force, and WHEREAS, Paul Redpath has received Awards or Citations for Municipal Accomplishments: 1972 Sun News Man of the Year; 1979 Federal Civil Servant of the Year; 1984 Honorary Rotary Membership; 1985 American Legion Life Membership, and WHEREAS, Paul Redpath has been one of the key leaders of City government over the past 20 years, and has provided unique historical perspectives, plus thoughtful insights on many crucial issues before the City, and WHEREAS, Paul Redpath is always ready to greet anyone with a warm welcome, a happy smile and pleasant conversation, and WHEREAS, Paul Redpath is known to have a humerous anecdote, no matter what the situation, and thus reminding us all that to laugh with others and sometimes at ourselves is indeed good for the spirit. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Eden Prairie City Council, on behalf of the entire community does hereby proclaim its sincere appreciation to Paul Redpath for his many years of dedicated and outstanding Public Service and for showing us in so many ways the true meaning of friendship and caring for others.
