HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 85-48 - Declare March 3-9 as "AAUW Week and Women's History Week" in Eden Prairie - 02/05/1985 CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA PROCLAMATION DECLARING MARCH 3-9, 1985 AS "AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERITY WOMEN ' S WEEK AND WOMEN' S HISTORY WEEK" IN EDEN PRAIRIE WHEREAS, the American Association of University Women has existed in America for over one hundred years, in Minnesota for ninety years, and in the Minnetonka Area for over twelve years; and WHEREAS, the Minnetonka Area branch of AAUW serves members in Bloomington, Brooklyn Park, Chaska, Deephaven, Eden Prairie, Edina, Excelsior, Golden Valley, Hopkins, Long Lake, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Mound, Plymouth, St. Louis Park, Shorewood, Tonka Bay and Wayzata; and WHEREAS, the American Association of University Women is an organization dedicated to education; and WHEREAS, the American Association of University Women supports the advancement of women, involvement in community issues and life-long learning; and WHEREAS, the American Association of University Women serves as a means for women to be effective participants in areas where crucial issues are being decided; and { WHEREAS, the theme for the week of recognition has been established as "Honor Your heritage - Invest in Your Future"; and WHEREAS, the American Association of University Women celebrates its heritage in conjunction with Women' s History Week; NOW, THEREFORE, I , Gary D. Peterson, Mayor of Eden Prairie, Minnesota do hereby declare March 3-9, 1985 as: AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN' S WEEK and WOMEN' S HISTORY WEEK in the City of Eden Prairie and urge all citizens to recognize the importance of this observance.
