HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 82-85 - Supporting Nomination of Cummins/Grill House to National Register of Historic Places - 05/04/1982 CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE HENNEPIN COUNTY , MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 82-85 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE NOMINATION OF THE CUMMINS/GP.ILL HOUSE TO THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES WHEREAS , the Martin Grill house was built in 1879 by John R. Cummins , an early settler of Eden Prairie and a renowned horticulturalist in Minnesota , and WHEREAS , the wishes of Martin and Martha Grill were to have their home preserved as a historic site , and WHEREAS , in 1976 the City of Eden Prairie purchased the Martin Grill house, and WHEREAS , in 1979 the City Council authorized a feasibility study for the preservation of the site , and in 1982 authorized the Eden Prairie Historical and Cultural Commission to proceed with the establishment of a Preservation Committee to prepare plans for restoring the Cummins/Grill house, and WHEREAS , the Cummins/Grill house meets the National Register criteria of significance in the areas of agriculture , architecture, and settlement, and WHEREAS , an application has been filed with the State Review Board by the City of Eden Prairie for nomination of the Cummins/Grill house to the National Register of Historic Places , and WHEREAS, the State Review Board will be considering the nomination of the Cummins/Grill house at its May 27. 1982 meeting , NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Eden Prairie supports the nomination of the Cllmmi ns/Gri l l house to the National Register of Historic Places .
