RESOLUTION NO. 999
RESOLUTION DETERMINING THE NECESSITY AND
EXPEDIENCY OF ISSUING GENERAL OBLIGATION
BONDS AND CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO
VOTE ON THEIR ISSUANCE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Eden Prairie,
Minnesota, as follows :
1 . The City Council finds , determines and declares that it is neces-
sary and for the best interests of the City, in furtherance of its public recre-
ation program conducted in accordance with the provisions of Minnesota Statutes ,
Sections 471 . 15 to 471 . 191 , to issue general obligation bonds of the City in the
following amounts to provide funds for the following purposes , respectively:
$1 ,300,000 for the acquisition and betterment of parks , play-
grounds and trail ways; and
$1 ,300,000 for the construction and equipment of a recreation
facility for use as an ice arena and other purposes , and a
swimming pool , the income and revenues from these facilities
to be used for the operation and maintenance thereof and the
payment of the bonds .
2. A special election is called and shall be held on Tuesday, July 8,
1975, between the hours of 7 :00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. , at the polling places desig-
nated in the notice of election set forth below, at which the questions of issu-
ing bonds shall be submitted to the voters.
3. Noti.ce of the election shall be given by publication in the offi-
cial newspaper once a week for two successive weeks , the second publication at
least seven days before the election, and by posting at each of the polling
places and in three of the most public and conspicuous places in each precinct
not less than 10 days before the election. The notice shall be in substantially
the following form:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special election will be held in and
for the City of Eder. Prairie, Minnesota , on Tuesday, the 8th ,lay of July, 1975,
between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. , to vote on the following ques-
tions. :
Shall the City issue its general obligation bonds in an
amount not exceeding $1 ,300,0Ln for the purpose of pro-
viding funds for the acquisition and betterment of parks ,
playgrounds and trail ways?

amount not exceeding $1 ,300,000 tu the purpose of pro-

All registered and qualified voters of the City are entitled to vote at said
election within the respective election precincts in which they reside. The
polling place in each precinct shall be:

4. The Clerk shall also post a copy of a sample ballot at each poll -
ing place and in his office, at least four days before the election , in substan-
tially the following form:

Shall the City issue its general obligation bonds in an

INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS : If you wish to vote in favor of
either of the above propositions mark a cross (x) in the
square opposite the word "YES" following the statement of
that proposition. If you wish to vote against either
proposition , mark a cross (x ) in the square opposite the
word "NO" , following that proposition.

5. The Clerk is authorized and directed to cause official bond bal -
lots to be printed for the use of the voters , identical in form with the sample
except that the first line shall read "OFFICIAL BOND ELECTION BALLOT" , and on
the back shall be printed the words "OFFICIAL BALLOT" , the date of the election,
a facsimile signature of the City Clerk, and lines for the initials of two
judges.

Th motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly
seconded by Mr. Bye , and upon vote being taken thereon , the follow-
ing voted in favor thereof:
Mr. Bye, Mr. Penzel , Mrs . Meyers and Mrs . .Pauly.
and the fallowing voted against the same: Mayor Osterholt
whereupon the resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
