Plan Bid - 04/08/1975 CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 980 A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE PROPOSED METROPOLITAN COUNCIL COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING BILL . WHEREAS, the City of Eden Prairie has , in accordance with its legal responsibilities, provided a comprehensive development plan for its city in 1968 well before State and Metropolitan requirements for such planning existed; and WHEREAS, the City of Eden Prairie has and will continue to fulf ill its responsiblity to keep its plan up to date and to coordinate said plan with other governmental units ; and WHEREAS, the City of Eden Prairie has in the past shown by its actions its initiative and responsibility in meeting the ever-changing problems of a rapidly growing urban area; and WHEREAS, the City of Eden Prairie believes that the proposed legislation designated as the Metropolitan Council Comprehensive Planning Bill and the proposed legislation implementing the rules and regulations of the "Metropolitan Significance" will abridge the local planning process as it now exists. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the State of Minnesota deny any such legislation during the 1975 Session which would change or in any way diminish the authority of the local govern- mental unit; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that if the Legislature in its wisdom determines such legislation to be necessary, that it create an interim study commission to explore such legislation and require said commission study the implications of any proposed legislation and the impact of any regulations for Matters of Metropolitan Significance. Further, that prior to the next session of the Legislature, that the results of this study and any proposed legislation be disseminated to all levels of government and other interested parties for their consideration.
