I. ROLL CALL
Muehlberg called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Desmarais and student representative
Zhang were excused.
Sarah Laska and Erin Henke, students from Eden Prairie High School were visitors at the
meeting.
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
MOTION: Cofer Evert moved, seconded by Olson, to approve the agenda.
Motion Carried 6-0.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. COMMISSION MEETING HELD AUGUST 27, 2012
MOTION: Lawler moved, seconded by McPherson, to approve the minutes of
the Heritage Preservation Commission meeting held on August 27, 2012. Motion
carried 6-0.
IV. REPORTS OF COMMISSION AND STAFF
A. WELCOME STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES
Muehlberg welcomed Melissa Berman to the commission. He gave a brief
overview of what the commission is involved with and encouraged her to ask
questions and give feedback throughout her term.

B. STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION CONFERENCE REPORT
Olson and Creamer gave detailed accounts of the sessions they attended and field
trips they participated in. Information from specific sessions was shared with the
commission.
V. OLD BUSINESS
A. UPDATE ON THE CUMMINS HOUSE FOUNDATION REPAIR
Gertz stated there were no updates on this project. The Commission wondered if
the project was going to be postponed until spring or if it would be completed
before winter. Gertz will contact Sticha to see when the project will be completed.
B. UPDATE ON THE CUMMINS HOUSE UPPER LEVEL REMODELING
PROJECT
Gertz stated there were no updates on this project. Nothing has been done since
the last meeting.
C. UPDATE ON INTERPRETIVE SIGNAGE
Cofer Evert and McPherson reported their findings on outdoor interpretive
signage. Each member presented the information related to the materials and
costs associated with the panels. The commission would like to see an interpretive
panel installed at the Riley-Jacques farmstead, since it is the only city owned
property which currently doesn't have one.
Cofer Evert volunteered to take photos of the current panels and bring them to the
October 15, 2012 meeting for other commission members to see what the current
layout is and Gertz will compile a list and also have it available at the October
meeting.
Gertz suggested this project could be added to the Commissions 2013 work plan.
VI. NEW BUSINESS
There was no new business.
VII. FYI ITEMS
Creamer reminded the commission of the City wide open house which is
Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 1lam-2pm at City Center/Fire Station 1.

There were no student updates as this was their first meeting of the term.
IX. ADJOURNMENT
MOTION: Lawler moved, seconded by McGuire, to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carried 6-0.
There being no further business, Muehlberg adjourned the meeting at 8:12 p.m.
