EDEN PRAIRIE ARTS & CULTURE COMMISSION
MONDAY,JANUARY 9, 2012 7:00 P.M. CITY CENTER—Prairie Room

COMMISSION MEMBERS: Farida Kathawalla, Chair; Gina King, Vice Chair;
Cynthia Paulson, Julia Ramos, Ann Rorem
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES: Roseann Awad, Jamie Bernard, Nafisa Mahamud
CITY STAFF: Laurie Obiazor, Recreation Services Manager

I. ROLL CALL
Kathawalla called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. Roseann Awad and Nafisa
Muhamud were absent. Ramos arrived at 7:04 pm.
Introduction—Matt Kraft, a member of Eden Prairie Players, was in attendance.
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
MOTION: Rorem moved to approve the Agenda, seconded by Paulson. Motion carried
4-0.
Ramos arrived at 7:04 pm.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES —NOVEMBER 14, 2011
MOTION: Paulson moved to approve the November 14, 2011 minutes, seconded by
Ramos. Motion carried 5-0.
IV. EDEN PRAIRIE PLAYERS AND COMMUNITY BAND
A. EP Players Strategic Plan
Danhauser said there is now a strategic direction and operating plan for the Eden
Prairie Players. The mission was clarified and the wording was cleaned up. The
vision changed quite a lot. The values are ways to guide decision making. The
strategic direction is to expand who the Eden Prairie Players are reaching. The
goals are to have the following:
• Have clear roles
• With the plays at the Eden Prairie High School, there is a lot of room for
growth due to the number of seats in the auditorium.
• Work with the Chamber of Commerce

The action plan for 2012 will be monitoring the progress. There are eight active
members. Currently, members do what they think needs to be done. Danhauser
said they are looking for more specifically set ways to set the committees needs.
Part of the plan is to recruit more volunteers.
B. Funny Money
Danhauser said Funny Money is a British farce. The first night of the performance
is `pay what you can' night.
C. Share the Warmth Concert
Danhauser said the Share the Warmth Concert was in December. Over 100 people
attended and there was food donated to Prop from the event.
V. ART CENTER
A. Winter Programming
Danhauser said there are a variety of classes being offered during the winter
session.
B. 2012 Art on City Walls
VI. PETITIONS, REOUETS AND COMMUNICATION
A. Tonja Bivins Resignation
Danhauser announced Tonja Bivins resignation.
VII. OLD BUSINESS
A. EPCC Mural Project Update
Danhauser said the staff will select the finalists on January 23. The finalists will
then be brought to the Arts & Culture Commission for a final decision.
B. 2011 Work Plan Summary
Danhauser said the Commission will officially approve the work plan next month.
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
A. Interactive Online Program Brochure
The individual can click on the class and can register. In addition, an individual
can click to obtain information about the artists.

A. Artist Network Meeting —January 23
Danhauser said the City will provide the signs for the Art Crawl. There will be
two directional signs.
