A. Round Lake Park Master Plan
Jay introduced Jason Amberg from Brauer& Associates LTD. Brauer &
Associates is the Landscape architect firm that was responsible for the Miller Park
reconstruction. Amberg said Round Lake Park will be redone in phases. Round
Lake Park has had issues with the water quality in Round Lake due to a high
goose population. During the summer of 2011, the water quality was good, but the
water level was too low for swimming. The master plan is to make improvements
to the park in different phases. The park is to being reorganized, so the park has a
better flow to it. The road and parking will move to allow a more efficient use of
space by the lake and the playground. There will be larger softball fields with one
less baseball field. There will be a multicolored shelter with bright color on the
tarp roof. Lotthammer said there needs to be a proper number of parking spots for
the number of softball fields. Amberg said on the trail there will be interpretive
learning areas and creative play areas. There will be stopping spots around the
trail. There will be new multi use shelter areas with a couple of small and medium
size shelters. There could be one or two gatherings at a time. There is space for an
outdoor learning theatre in a bowled hillside. There will be a splash pad, and play

structures for the two to five age group and a five to twelve age group. There will
be a variety of seating options. The existing pavilion will have upgrades and be
renovated. There will be fitness stations next to the play areas with elliptical and
bikes. The splash pad will have jungle critters for the five to twelve age group.
The two to five age group will be an ocean animal theme. The splash pad is an in
between play area. Even if the beach is closed, the splash pad could still be used.
The splash pad ground will be either a rubberized or a textured concrete. In the
winter, the equipment stays outside and the equipment can be winterized. The
system only runs if people are around the splash pad. The Round Lake splash pad
will be two to two and a half times the size of the Miller Park splash pad.
Lotthammer said there will be bids in the spring with construction starting in
August with completion in November.
Lotthammer said there will be a new skate park constructed by another company
and two of the hockey rinks will be replaced. The fencing and retaining walls will
be replaced with a new retaining wall and fencing with a metallic finish and black
posts. In the seating plaza there will be decorative pavement with weathered
stone. The softball field will be replaced in four to five years. There will be more
than 50 parking spots after the park update. The main street could potentially have
a gate to be able to gate off the road for venders.
