B. Welcome to Our Community Sisnau
Elliott-S toering brought up the idea of having signs visible when driving into the
City. There could be a sign at on each major road. There would need to be
collaboration between the Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Commission
and the Arts and Culture Commission. Ramos suggested the signs could be made
of metal or stone to withstand the weather. Obiazor said this idea is from one
individual and not the Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Commission. The

Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Commission is not focusing on signage
this year. The entire City Council has to be directed for this topic to be on the
front burner. Elliot-Stoering said Tom Bierman was looking for an informal
discussion and he was then going to present it to the Parks, Recreation and
Natural Resources Commission. Obiazor said there could be a committee to look
into the topic as a start and maybe the Chamber is a place to start.
VII. OLD BUSINESS
A. Art Center Mural Update
Danhauser asked how the mural could be funded. She is looking into grants, but
the mural would need to be a community mural project.
Eliott-Stoering left the meeting at 8:03 pm.
Ramos said the building should look professionally done and the mural should not
be a community project. Ramos said the Dog Hotel at Mitchell Road and
Highway 62 is an example of what a professional artistic paint job could look
like. Danhauser said the topic of an Art Mural has been updated to a philosophy
of public art for the Art Center.
Ramos said there could be a fundraising effort for City Art. Danhauser said there
could be a couple of events.
Tayna left the meeting at 8:10 pm.

The Commission went on a tour of the public art locations in the Eden Prairie

Danhauser said there will be furniture placed in the corner in the area at the top of

could be a fountain or tree in the grassy area outside the main entrance. There
could be a stone garden and colorful the placed on the building in the grassy area
by the side of the building. The walls in the play area could be painted with strips
or circles. The Commission could come up with a design and the painting would

Danhauser requests communication through Brenda Uting. There are 10,000
subscribers in the email e-news subscription. There are 2600 fans on Facebook. In
addition, there is the City website and the intranet for employees.
Ramos said most people she talks to do not know there is an Art Center and the
information cannot be found in the brochures because the amount of information
in the brochures is overwhelming. Ramos suggested separating the Art Center
information for the rest of the brochure because the brochure is too big. It would
be ideal to have the specific Art Center class information in a more manageable
format. Obiazor said an eblast could be a supplemental way to promote the
information.
