HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 452 - Resolution Calling Referendum - Question of Split Liquor - 09/14/1971 VILLAGE OF EDEN PRAIRIE t HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 452 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMISSION OF SPLIT LIQUOR TO THE VOTERS OF EDEN PRAIRIE. WHEREAS, Experience has indicated the difficulty of maintaining high quality eating establishments in communities which do not issue private "on- sale" liquor licenses; and WHEREAS, Municipali ties are now autho:•ized by law to issue "on-sale" licenses to hotels and ; -Gtaurants while continuing a municipal dispensary for the "off-sale" of intoxicating liquor: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA: 1 . It is desirable and in the public interest to issue private licenses for the sale of liquor for consumption on the 1 i censed premises ("on-sale") while continuing the operation of the municipal dispensary to .sell intoxicating) liquor in original packages off the premises ("off-sale"). 2. Pursuant to Ch. 1127 laws 1969 a special election shall be held in Districts I, II and III in the Village of Eden Prairie on the 2nd day of November, 1971 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. , at which time and places the following proposition shalt be submitted to the voters„ 1 "Shall the Village of Eden Prairie continue only the "off-sale" dispensation of liquor at the Municipal store and be authorized to issue private "on-sale" liquor licenses to hotels and restaurants as defined in M. S. 340.077" i 3. The Village clerk is hereby authorized and directed to prepare the necessary ballots and other election supplies, give proper notice, and arrange other details necessary for the election.
