B. 2011 Art on City Walls Schedule
Danhauser said the Rorem's students have their art on display this month at the
Art Center.
C. Art Center Mural Feedback
Danhauser said they will request proposals from artists. The artists will provide
the supplies. Funding could be from Friends of the Eden Prairie Art Center, there
could be a class along with the mural painting. A grant could be applied to use
towards the mural. Most likely the only way a grant could be used is if students
are involved in the mural process.
Ramos said painting on the Art Center garage door could last around 7 years.
Sections of the door may need to be patched if the door starts to peel before the
whole door would need to be painted again. It may be possible to get 10 years out
of the door with door patching. There is also the option of using vinyl stickers.
The stickers could last longer than then the painting. An image can be submitted
and the stickers are made from that image. Danhauser said they would like
original art work on the garage door.
D. Art Center Vending Opportunities
Danhauser said clay and clay tools are sold at the Art Center. Obiazor said the
Finance and IT departments would need to evaluate the money handling of Art
sales. Rorem said the teachers could purchase supplies and the teacher could be
reimbursed by the students. Ramos said it is most likely a five to ten year plan for
selling goods for gifts.
Danhauser said City staff would look into weather selling merchandize and the
Art Center would be cost effective.
Obiazor said there are two items that should be looked into.
1. Determine the vision, mission, and purpose of the merchandise.
2. With the high school, would the design be a contest or an assignment.
Obiazor said other Art Centers could be looked at to determine how they sell
merchandise and how it is determined what merchandise they sell.
