Danhauser said the show will be $5.00 per ticket and $2.00 for children under 5
years old. There are not any discounts on the tickets for the summer show because
the cost recovery isn't met and there is usually enough interest from the public in
seeing the plays.
V. ART CENTER
A. One Year Anniversary Celebration Recap
Danhauser said there were about 200 people at the anniversary celebration. The
Sampson family was in attendance.
B. Facility Improvements —Walk Draw Curtain and Pottery Wheels
Danhauser said there was a draw curtain purchased for the multipurpose room.
Two new pottery wheels were ordered. The newspaper may be notified of the new
purchase because of the help from Friends of the Arts. One of the pottery wheels
has an adjustable height. There was a therapeutic Saturday night out held and
pottery was one of the events. The adjustable height of the pottery wheel will be
helpful for individuals with disabilities and to adjust for differences in individual
heights.
C. Summer Programming Update
The summer programming starts next week.
D. Summer Open Studio Hours
Danhauser said there will be expanded Art Center open hours during the summer.
The Saturday hours have been dropped to every other Saturday.
VI. PETITIONS, REOUETS AND COMMUNICATION
None.
VII. OLD BUSINESS
A. Appoint Subcommittee for the Development of Criteria for Public Art
Danhauser said this project is too big of a project for the monthly meetings. The
subcommittee could bring back the information to the Commission for the
monthly votes. Obiazor said items may be able to be worked on individually and
not meet as often.
Obiazor said the Veterans' Memorial, Art Center, and Art Crawl all have applied
for awards. Art in the Park will seek funding by applying for a grant.

There are cash park fees. A certain amount of money goes toward the
development of the parks or tree replacement. One thought is part or all of the
money could be used for art installation around the City.
Five, ten and fifteen year plan for art in the City is to be looked at by the
subcommittee. Also, to develop a master plan and recommend the plan to the
Commission and present it to the City Council.
Ramos said it would be helpful to have a goal of working toward one to two
actual projects and moving them forward. This would be instead of waiting for
things to come toward the Commission. In the past, the Commission would
approve almost anything.
Danhauser said the subcommittee would be developing criteria by the end of the
year. The subcommittee could meet monthly or every other week. The frequency
may have to be adjusted. Armstrong, King and Ramos said they are interested in
being on the subcommittee. The group could start meeting after the International
Festival.
Obiazor said the subcommittee will have September to December to work on the
work plan and bring back the information in November and December.
B. 2010-2011 Residents' Guide Update—Online Resource Directory
The residents' guide was split up among the Commission to update. The
Commission members will follow-up with the artists to ensure the accuracy of the
information. The following is an example of what could be said to the artists.
"Hi, I'm Gina and we are updating the Eden Prairie Residents' Guide. I'd like to
verify the information we have."
The updates should be sent to Danhauser by July 12.
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
A. Art Center Quarterly Newsletter—Proposed implementation Fall 2010
Danhauser said there will be a quarterly newsletter for the Art Center. There will
be a printed quarterly newsletter to be handed out at events and at the Art Center.
Ramos suggested the printouts be at the Eden Prairie Mall. She also suggested the
newsletter be published monthly and not quarterly. Obiazor said monthly may be
too often. It could be every two months and have a template the administrator
could cut and paste information into. Danhauser said every two months could
work for a newsletter.
IX. REPORTS OF STAFF AND COMMISSIONERS

A. Art Crawl Update
Rorem said there are seventeen artists. There were thirteen last year. Next week
the brochure will be started to be worked on by the committee. The artists have
been notified. Updated items for this year are:
• The houses will be listed if they are handicap accessible
• More detailed directions on how to get to each house.
Danhauser said there will be two artists exhibiting at the Art Center this year.
Danhauser said the Communications Department won an award for the Art Crawl
brochure.
King said the year isn't on the previous Art Crawl and International Festival
brochures. Knowing the year would be helpful when looking at past examples.
B. Arts in the Park Recap
Danhauser said Arts in the Park was on May 15. Over 800 people were in
attendance. There were 500 punch cards printed and they were all gone. There
were good responses from artists and patrons. Hopefully, there will be more
artists next year. The visibility of the location was great and a lot of people
stopped by after walking through in the morning and even came back later in the
day.
C. MN Jazz on the Prairie Festival Recap
Danhauser said there were six local bands starting at 2 p.m. and each played for
about 45 minutes. The Eden Prairie Players did concessions. There were 700
plates of ribs sold, raffles, and beer and tea sold. The Eden Prairie Players made
$375.
There was a traffic person and a shuttle bus and both helped the traffic. Obiazor
said the summer musical will have a shuttle bus also. Danhauser said there were
about 150 people at the Jazz festival at all times.
