A. SUMMER MUSICAL—PETER PAN RECAP
Danhauser said the summer musical was a big success with over 4000 people
seeing the show. The guests donated $3200 to see the show, which was a lower
amount than anticipated. There has been discussion about having an actor talk
prior to the performance to try to entice people in to donating money or donating
more money. Ramos suggested having a sign and a donation bucket near an
entrance instead of having an actor speak. Having a sign would make it easier for
people with children, who may arrive late and miss the collection. Petry-Lee
suggested having an actor at the donation box because people may be more
willing to donate with an actor there. Olson suggested including the statement
donation suggested on the publicity for the show.
B. CHILDREN'S THEATRE WORKSHOP - SNOW WHITE
Snow White will be on August 7 at 7 p.m., 8 at 2 and 7 p.m., and 9 at 2 p.m..
Tickets are $5 for adults and children 16 years and up and $3 for children.
C. A COLLECTION OF ONE ACTS
Danhauser said the cost for One Acts will be $15 and will be on September 24, 25,
and 26, October 2, 3, and 4.

V. ART CENTER
A. UPDATE ON SUMMER PROGRAMS
Danhauser said there are 262 registered for classes this summer.
B. FALL PROGRAMMING
Danhauser said there will be a lot of the same classes offered in the fall as were
offered in the summer. There will be more classes offered on the days school isn't
in session and over the winter holiday. There will be 2D and 3D study classes, a
fabric art class, and jewelry classes for teens. Painting, clay, and fused glass
classes have been added for adults. The Parks and Recreation brochure will be
available in the middle of August. The Art Center can probably have a brochure
eventually, but it is too expensive to have a separate one now. Rorem suggested
having Art Center in the title on the Park and Recreation Cover, so everyone
knows it is for the Art Center also. Olson asked about having an art academy.
Olson said the art academy, for more dedicated students, is a weekly program
throughout the school year and the kids can generally choose what they want to
work on. Kathawalla said they can pay quarterly. Olson said the students apply by

presenting their portfolio. Petry-Lee asked if a blog has been considered for the
Art Center. Danhauser said she'd like one and Eden Prairie is trying out a
Facebook page, so that could be another possibility for the Art Center.

Danhauser said there are 35 members. She would like to have 70 members and is
hoping for more interested people this fall with the fall registration.
D. BIRTHDAY PARTY PROGRAM
Danhauser said there is now a birthday party program. The cost is $105 and there
can be up to ten guests. Each additional guest will be $5. There are themes for the
party including:

next Artist Network will include a 60 minute portrait and the discussion will be
about bringing new business to artists.
B. ART CRAWL— SEPTEMBER 26 & 27
Danhauser said there were 17 submissions. The jury picked 15 of the submissions.
The selections were chosen by comparing artists with the same medium.
Danhauser said the Art Center can host three artists. Danhauser said it was
unfortunate there were no glass artists or potters. Kathawalla said she knows a
potter in Edina. Danhauser said it is fine if the artist is out of the City, but she
would need to know by the end of the week if they were interested. At the Art
Center, there will be a tent with information and class brochures.
Ramos asked about the concern for the dates chosen for the Art Crawl, which
overlap with a religious holiday. The holiday is the holiest Jewish holiday of the
Jewish holidays. Danhauser said the Human Rights and Diversity Commission
doesn't meet during the summer and then they will need to go to the City Council
with their recommendation. Ramos said she is unable to participate due to the
dates chosen for the Art Crawl. Ramos said she hopes in the future religious
holidays are considered for the planning of events.
C. INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL—SUNDAY, AUGUST 9 FROM 3 PM TO
8:30 PM, STARING LAKE PARK
Danhauser said there are enough food vendors and Qdoba will be feeding the
volunteers. Ramos said she went to a dance festival in St. Paul and there were a
large amount of local groups and the festival may be a good resource for dancers.
D. WINDSOR PLAZA ART PROJECT UPDATE
Danhauser said Neal had concern about having another step for builders to go
through regarding the selection of art on private commercial property. Danhauser
said the art at Windsor Plaza is about the redevelopment of building materials.
Rorem said she will review the meeting with Janet concerning what was said
about the Art& Culture Commission's involvement in choosing the Art on
private commercial property. Rorem will talk about it at the next meeting.
VIII. NEW BUSINESS
A. EDEN PRAIRIE RESIDENTS GUIDE—ARTIST RESOURCE
DIRECTORY
Danhauser said the deadline was in June, so everything had to be submitted very
quickly this year. People could have been missed during the review process.
Ramos said she should have been in the directory and asked if she could still be
added. Danhauser said people can't be added at this point because everything has
