Eden Prairie Village Hall Present: Daniel Boos, Acting Chairman, William Garens, Marvin Erickson, Bob Gartner, Dean Holasek, �- Frances Blacklock cn d Absent: Charles Brace, Robert Lieb, David Osterholt n Daniel Boos served as acting chairman in the absence of Charles Brace. Bob Gartner, newly appointed representative of the School Board, attended for the first time, but had not been sworn into office. Minutes M/Erickson, S/Holasek that the minutes of July 8 be approved as printed. Motion carried. Request for M/Marvin Erickson, S/Dean Holasek that the Park and Recreation Council action Commission recommend to the Eden Prairie Village Council that re: land the Council take steps at the earliest possible time to appoint acquistion an attorney to start negotiations with landowners of proposed park land; have appraisals made of properties, beginning with the most urgent parcels, following Don Brauer's recommendations; and take options if necessary. The Park and Recreation Commission would like the opportunity of meeting with the attorney and Mr. Brauer at a special meeting as soon as it can be arranged. The motion carried. Request for M/William Garens, seconded by Dean Holasek that in view of the coordination need of the school board and fire department for action in the of Round Lk. Round Lake area, the Park and Recreation Commission requests plans that the Council consider getting Brauer's plan for park and (w fire department sites coordinated with school land plans and 0 roads in that area, as soon as possible. The motion carried. 3 Recreation book The secretary was instructed to order the booklet 'Physical Fitness Elements in Recreation" for all members of tb Park Q� Commission, School Board and the 'Village Council from the gim � . President's Council, Washington D.C. They are available free. Recreation Commi- The Secretary reported the recommendations of the Recreation ttee report Committee which met August 5. The committee expressed the need U& for an increased budget for 1969 to meet the growing interest and need for recreation in the community. It was felt that the passage ' of the park bond issue in June was an expression by the people of Eden Prairie of their desire for parks, and that they will be expecting some results by next summer in the way of acquired park lands, with at least some basic facilities and an expanded recrea- tional program. Gustafson express our appreciation to Dale Gustafson for the fine job he has done this summer as Recreation Director. Carried. Fish stocking Garens reported the State will stock fish in lakes with access), following a study. The meeting was adjourned. __:-'; . i ?p BUDGET PROPOSAL FOR THE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION 1968-69 as approved at the August 12, 1968 meeting of the Commission - to meet the needs of increased enrollment, and the desire for more recreational opportunities as expressed by the citizens in the passage of the park bond issue in June, 1968. SALARIES Director - Three assistants @ $250 each - (Assistant Director @$550 is paid by Suburban Rec.Assn.) Others - Lifeguard, custodian for warminhouse etc. i $ 2,500.00 PLAYGFOUND MAINTENANCE Flooding rink, clearing rinks, mowing, weed control 2,000.00 PLAYGROUND DEVELOPMENT & EQUIPMENT FOR SUMMER RECREATION _ Tennis courts on west end Central School parking lot, playground equipment for parks such as Ruch Island, school ,park next to Prairie View School 4,500.00 SUPPLIES Increased arts and crafts supplies 400.00 , PRINTING OF RECREATION CALENDAR AND POSTAGE 200.00 BUSSING AND OTHER FEES - Special insturctors such as for tennis, golf, art, drams 500.00 DUES, SUBSCRIPTIONS & MEMBERSHIP (Henn.
