HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks and Recreation - 01/22/1968 I . f 1968 JANUARY 22 MINUTES CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE I Eden Prairie Park and Recreation Commission Meeting C January 22, 1968 7:00 p.m. Village Hall Present: Les Wise, Chairman, Chuck Brace, Vice-chairman, Harry Picha, Dave Osterholt, Frances Blacklock The meeting was calLed to order by the Chairman. M/Brace, S/Picha that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved as published. Carried. Size of Commi- The advisability of enlarging the size of the Park and Recii ation ssion Commission was discussed. This would take an amendment of Ord. 45. For reference regarding state provisions for Park Boards, members were informed that the State Village Code park provisions were printed in the back of the "Long Range Park and Recreation Plane done for Eden Prairie by the U. of Minnesota. 13y-Laws M/Brace, S/Picha that the Park and Recreation Commission adopt Mr. Perbix's recommendations for changes and additions to the By-Laws of the Park and Recreation Commission. Carried. The Secretary will prepare copies for the next meeting. Planning Committee The Secretary suggested that inasmuch as Mr. Brauer was expecting ? the Park and Recreation Commission to submit its goals to him for Incorporation into his comprehensive plan, that either the Commission should meet weekly to draw up these goals, or a working committee be formed for this purpose and the goals be submitted to the Commission for approval. Mr. Wise appointed a committee for the above purpose: Mr. Wise, Mr. Brace and Mrs. Blacklock. Interim Park M/Picha, S/Blacklock that the Park and Recreation Commission Plan adopt t'An Interim Plan for Parks and Open Space" as prepared by Don .Brauer, to serve as a guide until a new comprehensive plan is adopted by the village. Carried. Lake Improvement Application for Lake Improvement Funds will be discussed by the Funds Planning Committee at its meeting Jan. 29• The deadline for application is March 1. .Amendment to There was discussion of the amendment regarding dedication of Ord. 93 creekbed land which is on the Council agenda for Jan. 23. Mr. Osterholt said he felt that easements rather than dedication of land would aid the cause for parks. Future plans Future plans for swimming lessons, teen center, school-park site at Round Lake were discussed. M/Brace, S/Picha that the meeting be adjourned. Carried.
