HomeMy WebLinkAboutParks and Recreation - 03/07/1967 ,i 4 1967 s MARCH 7 S MINUTES 1 CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE MEN PRAIRIE PARK AND RECREATION MEETING March 7, 1967 8 p.m. Village Hall Present: Don Nygaard, chairman, Dave Osterholt, Les Wise, Harry Picha, Frances Blacklock Guests: Bill Holte, Summer Recreation Director Ade Meyers, Jaycee recreation chairman (youth) M/ Picha, S/Osterholt that the minutes for February and December be approved as printed. Carried. Kutcher property Dave Osterholt reported that Patchin Appraisals had been given the legal description of the Kutcher property and should have their appraisal ready in three weeks. Kings Forest land Harry Picha reported that the School Board is interested in ten acres in this area, and •Chat if twenty acres were purchased. a better price per acre could be obtained. There is gravel on the land which the village could use to help pay for its share of the acreage. If the School Board used the north ten acre s for school, and the village the south ten acres, this would fit the pattern of adjacent school and park areas that Bloomink- ton has followed very satisfactorily. M/Picha, S/Osterholt that the Eden Prairie Park and Recreation Commission recommend that the Village of Eden Prairie enter into an agreement with the Eden Prairie School Board on a purchase of the Sewall property. Carried. Platting Ordinance Dave Osterholt reported on the Council action on the Platting Ordinance, at their last meeting. He reported that the Ordinance was passed; that Section 11.1 on Public Sites and Open Lands sets the figure at 5% of the land area and 15% of the full and true value for the money donation for Park and Recreation pur- poses on plats. Section 11.2 referring to the area to be set aside as a drainage way, sets the figure at 100 feet on either side of the center line and gives credit for the land taken in this manner as part of the 5% donation required in Section 11.1. Starring Lake The County is in contact with Village Clerk James Brown re: development of the lake. Summer Recreation Bill Holte said he would continue as Summer Recreation Director. He indicated that Nancy Carling would also continue as an assis- tant, but that his second assistant was yet to be arranged. Dave Osterholt said equipment could be stored in a room in the Village Hall. Last summer's Schedule and program were discussed, with the consensus that this years pattern would be somewhat the same. The Jaycees plan to sponsor a golf tournament and track i� meet, according to Ade Meyers. He will inquire about horseshoe and a slow pitch league, also. Summer Recreation plans will be finalized for a printed Schedule at a Special Meeting, Monday, April 17 at 8 p.m. i y EDEN PRAIRIE PARK AND RECREATION MEETING March 7, 1967 Page 2 Council agenda The secretary was instructed to ask that Don Nygaard be put on the Council agenda for March 28 to ask that all of the Park and Recreation budget be allocated as park funds. Mower The purchase of a mower by the village was discussed, which would be suitable for park and recreation ground mousing, ball fields etc. No action was taken. i Plats As plats for land development are submitted for approval, it was felt that the Park and Recreation Commidsion should also see them for approval of dedicated park lands.
