July 11, 1966 3:00 P.M.
Eden Prairie Village Hall
Present: Don Nygaard, Chairman, Howard Merriman, Frances Blacklock
Bill Holte, Summer Recreation Director
Park Land The Board met with ten residents of Eden View II to look over
and discuss some park land possibilities, on the site.
Minutes The Board reconvened at the Village Hall at 9:00 where the meeting
was called to order by the Chairman. M/Merriman, S/Blacklock
that the minutes as printed be approved. Carried.
Grading Scenic It was noted that Quentin Uood was on the Agenda of the Council
Heights Land Meeting, July 12, to report on the cost of grading the Village
property east of the Methodist church for a playground. This is
in response to an inquiry made at the May 2 meeting of the Park
and. Recreation Commission by Rev. Alden Kieski of the Methodist
Church.
Eden View II Howard. Merriman was appointed to look into the ownership and
Land possibility of acquiring land in Eden View II which was looked
over earlier in the evening. He will also determine the location
of the land in Hearing File {� 12. In the Zoning and Planning
Commission meeting of June 21 it was recommended that the Park
and Recreation Commission look into this property as a future
park site to serve the Eden View area and the Birch Island and
Paradise Valley area.
9an3"W Ordinance M/Merriman, S/Blacklock that Section 11.1 on Public Sites and
Open Lands of -the Proposed Zoning Ordinance which now Yeads,
"a total of 5'% of the gross area's be changed to read, "a total
of 10% of the gross area' in the three instances that the wording
occurs. Carried.
M/Blacklock, 8/Iderrirna.n that Section 11..2 on Drainage ':day of the
Proposed Zoning Ordinance which now reads, "50 feet each side of
the cantor lino," be changed to "a minimum of 100 feet each side
of a center .line,t' and that Riley Crook be included as one of the
streams listed. Carried.
Don Nygaard will appear at a special meeting of the Council, Sat-
urday, July 16 to explain the reasons behind -the above motions.
Swrmcr Recroation RUI Holte reported that the Sumner Roc Program was going well.
About 170 children are registered, 50 entered the U. of M. Track
T1eot winning 18 ribbon:;, 70 attondod a Trains game, about 40 attend
t' tho Rec. ProgrNn at Sterling Field. Conley Engstrom, athletic director
and golf coach at E.P.H.S. has been helping with golf instruction.
