to purchase equipment needed for the Center.

E. Art Crawl
Werts said the committee for the Art Crawl met on May 7 and decide to expand
the show to two dates, Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27 from
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will be juried and it is hoped to have about 20
artists participate. An entry fee of$75,plus a $15 jury fee will be charged.
Mosow said Ramos' point of not having the show on two days, due to religious
holiday conflicts, should be looked into and it is something the City Council
should think about. Ramos said she thinks each holiday should be individually
evaluated for importance. Ramos said Yom Kippur is the one holiday to be
respectful of when selecting dates for activities. Ramos said she is suggesting the
main holidays equivalent to Christmas and Easter be avoided. She suggested the
Art Crawl be held for only one day or on another weekend. The Art Crawl
Committee will look at the dates to determine if there is another weekend or if the
Art Crawl will be held for only one day.
Motion: The Arts & Culture Commission requests the Human Rights and
Diversity Commission review the question of how the City shows respect to the
holidays of religions when selecting the dates for City sponsored events and
meetings. The Commission also requests the HRDC develop a recommendation to
be presented to the City Council regarding this concern. Motion carried 5-0.
