He provided a handout of the various Rilco products and advised that the barn is similar to the one shown on page 2, type B. He said the plan is to retain the barn and build a dry-pond around it. He met with Specialties Deconstruction last week and it was recommended to salvage the arches and fasteners for archival purposes. He will meet with Larry Stubs on June 17 to determine if it’s feasible to move the barn. He said if it can be moved then potential new owners will need to be identified. Gertz said there is a meeting scheduled on June 23 – 24 at 9 a.m. at the barn site with Robert C. Vogel, from Pathfinder CRM, LLC. This meeting will consist of compiling written information, measured drawings and high-resolution photographs to produce a permanent record of its physical appearance and historical significance. CUMMINS OUTBUILDING UPDATE Gertz reported the outhouse has been moved and put onto the concrete pad. It is not secured but he will work with Park Maintenance as to when this will be completed. He suggested the outhouse could be moved to the Riley-Jacques farm but it should be restored before it’s moved and then stabilized. He said it’s in need of a new roof. The collapsed shed has been removed with salvaged material stored at the Riley- Jaques farm. He explained there is the issue of the commission having no funds in the budget and the minimum need is to have the buildings stabilized. Adams suggested having an upcoming meeting at the site so all of the commission members could tour the area. It was decided that the meeting scheduled for August 18 will take place at the site at 6:30 p.m. C. BEARIED TREASURES – MS. LAURA BLUML Ms. Laura Bluml, business owner of “Bearied Treasures”, presented to the Commission the idea of providing her services of embroidering various clothing articles to sell as a fundraiser for the Sesquicentennial. She said she could use the logo as printed on the mugs and have a digitized image produced to be used on clothing articles. Gertz said the HPC hasn’t historically done any type of fundraising efforts. He said the HPC doesn’t have an established budget rather the HPC get its money through COA grants. He explained if the HPC had a fundraiser, the money could be set up in a specific fund. He also said a fundraiser would require major effort from commission members. McPherson inquired on whether or not there was a minimum quantity that needed to be ordered of one particular item. Bluml advised there was no minimum quantity. Akerlund suggested using Sun Bonnet Days and the Fourth of July event as events for a fundraising effort. Adams concluded no definite decision would be made tonight in regards to ordering a specific item. She said the HPC is on the down slope for preparations of the Sesquicentennial and beginning efforts on a fundraiser at this time would not be possible. Gertz asked Bluml to send him an estimate of costs on having some sweatshirts prepared with the logo for future consideration. HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING June 16, 2008 Page 4 VII.
