HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 201 - Amending Ordinance No. 157 - 12/12/1972 F,- VILLAGE OF EDEN PRAIRIE > HENNEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA ORDINANCE NO. 201 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 157 THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF EDEN PRAIRIE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 24 of Ordinance No . 157 is hereby amended by adding the following : "An applicant for a license to install water softening and filtering equipment shall also furnish proof that policy of public liability insurance has been procured by him during the license period, for death or personal injury arisingtherefrom to any person or persons, in the amounts of not less than 100,000.00 for each person and $300,000.00 for each incident, and for damage to property arising from any incident in the amount of not less than $50,000.00." Section 2. There is added to Ordinance No. 157 a new section; 36 which shall read as follows: "Section 36. Utility Installer License. License Requi rement. No person shall make a sanitary sewer, water, or storm sewer connection in the Village unless first having a license pursuant to this section as a utility installer, and having obtained a permit for each such connection. ' A. Sanitary Sewer Connection, which means the installation of a hookup or connection from the municipal sanitary sewer line in a street or easement to the structure to be served thereby. :x B. Water Connection, which means the installation of a hookup or connection from the municipal water line in a street easement to the structure to be served thereby, including the placing of water meter within the structure. C. Storm Sewer Connection, which means the installation of a hookup or connection from the municipal storm sewer line in a street or easement to the structure to be served thereby or to any J inlet or catch basin on the property drained by the storm sewer. Permit Required. A permit is required for each such connection. Sanitary Sewer and Water Permits will be obtained from the Plumbing Department and Storm Sewer Permits from the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. Permit fees shall be as stated in separate license and fee schedule ordinance. Ordinance No. 201 Page 2 Application. A. Each year any person who intends to make sanitary sewer, water, and storm sewer connection in the Village shall make application to the Village on a form prepared by the Director of License and Inspec- tion. B. Each application shall be accompanied by the payment of a license fee as stated in separate license fee schedule ordinance. C. Any person not licensed as a plumber by the State of Minnesota shall be required to take an examination to determine his skill and knowledge. This examination shall be given by the Director of License and Inspection of the Village. D. Bond. Each licensee shall file with the Village a surety bond in an amount of not less than $5,000.00 to insure proper performance of work, according to State and local codes, in connection with the sanitary sewer, water or storm sewer connection, to save and hold the Village harmless in the performance of his work and to insure completion of a sanitary sewer, water or storm sewer connection in the event of failure or defect caused by the licensee. E. Insurance. Each licensee shall secure and maintain, during the term of ir_s -icense, Public Liability Insurance of at least $200 000.00 rR for bodily injury to, or death of, any one (1) person and $500,000.00 for bodily injury, or death of, two (2) or more persons in any one (1) accident; and at least $100,000.00 for property damage. The Village of Eden Prairie will be an additional named unsured. F. All tanks must be pumped and filled with granular material . Covers of tanks shall be broken and dropped into tanks.
