HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 160 - Regulating Pedestrian and Vehicular Traffic - 09/14/1971 VILLAGE OF EDE24 PRAIRIE HEJINEPIN COUNTY, MINNESOTA AN ORDINANCE REGULATING PEDESTRIAN, BICYCLE AND VEHICULAR TRAFFIC, AND PARKING, AND THE USE OF PLACING OF SIGNS AND SIGNALS, THE OPERATION AND EQUIPMENT OF BICYCLES AND THE USE OF VILLAGE STREETS INCORPORATING PROVISIONS OF THE STATE HIG1R,7AY REGULATION ACT BY REFERENCE, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES THEREFORE ARID AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 68. ORDINANCE NO. 160 THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF EDEN PRAIRIE ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: i Section 1. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 68 is hereby repealed. Suction 2 . There is to be added to Ordinance No. 68 a new Section 3, } which shall read as follows: "Section 3. Application to private property. All provisions of this ordinance applicable to pedestrians or the drivers of vehicles or bicycles upon the streets, highways or sidewalks of the Village shall apply except where clearly i inapplicable to pedestrians and drivers of vehicles and bicycles on private roads i and driveways of the Village, including school properties and off-street parking areas. The Village Manager may from time to time establish the maximum speeds at which vehicles and bicycles may be driven in such off-street parking areas and upon request by the school board upon school board properties. 3peed limits may vary from parking area to parking area and shall be based upon the requirements of safety in the areas affected. Each such speed limit shall be established in writing filed with the Village Clerk and shall become effective as an absolute speed limit on being sign-posted on such streets and upon such private roads and driveways and at each entrance to the parking area affected thereby, and no person shall drive a vehicle or bicycle at a speed in excess thereof. " S s 0 I i Section 3. Mere shall be added a new Section 4 to Ordinance No. 68 which reads as follows: "Section 4. Penalty. The performance of any act forbidden, or failure to perform any act required by this ordinance shall be a misdemeanor, which shall be punishable by imprisonment in the Village or County jail for not more than three (3) months or ninety (90) days, whichever is the lesser, or by a fine of 4 not more than $300.00.11 FIRST RFAD at a regular meeting of the Council of the Village of Eden Prairie this loth day of September, 1971, and finally read and adopted and ordered published at a regular meeting of the Council of said Village on ` the 28. h ay of September , 1971.
