The money raised is given to the local schools and parks, as well as various organizations in Eden Prairie. The ball will be held on February 26, 2005 in the Marriott Hotel at the Opus complex. For the silent auction, there will be one room designated to a display of artwork donated by local artists. Smith said they would try to have someone from the Advisory Committee come to each Commission meeting. The Committee consists of the producer, the volunteer director, the secretary, vice-chair, house operations director, funds- development director, play-reading director, education and outreach director, information-services director, facility-needs director, as well as a person who acts as a liaison with the Minnesota Community Theaters Board. Smith said the community theater is looking for a place to store props and costumes, and is implementing a check-out system with other groups for reciprocal use of costumes. C. Eden Prairie Reads Werts referenced the information included with the mailing to Commissioners regarding the "Eden Prairie Reads" program. The book is Neither Wolf Nor Dog: On Forgotten Roads with an Indian Elder. The goal is 3000 Eden Prairie readers. The activities connected with the program all take place in October at various locations. V. OLD BUSINESS A. Recommendation for Arts Promotion Brochure Werts suggested looking at the "Eden Prairie Arts List", a combined list obtained from the Commissioners, and deciding what categories and businesses should be included and what should be excluded from the arts promotion brochure. The Commissioners also have to decide if they want only Eden Prairie businesses. It was agreed that if there are no businesses representing a certain art-related activity ARTS & CULTURE COMMISSION MINUTES September 13, 2004 Page 3 in Eden Prairie, then other cities would be included in the list. It was also agreed that, after the first year, the listing of Eden Prairie businesses would be free and those in other cities would be charged. Part of the brochure would be a directory of art-related businesses and part would list what events are being held in Eden Prairie and their dates. The "Eden Prairie Arts List" was reviewed. It was decided not to include the following as individual categories: Architecture, Band Music, Banners, Body Piercing, Cabinetry, Cake Design, Clowns, Comic Book Dealer, Decals, Decoration Supplies, Desktop Publishing, Digital Imaging, Display Designers & Producers, Display Fixtures, Draperies, Events, Film Making, Graphic Designers, Guitar, Henna Art, Historical Society, History Museum, Industrial Design, Interior Decorating, Landscape Architecture, Movie Making, Movie Theater, Nail Art, Percussion, Piano, Plaques, Quintets, Rock Bands, Spa, Stained Glass, Stamping, Tattooing, Television, Typesetting, Video Production, Weaving, Web Design, Welding, and Wine Making. Anything pertaining to Music was placed under that heading, with subheadings to indicate what type of music.
