II . CALL MEETING TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Wolfgang H. Penzel .
III , DISCUSSION ON GENERAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS & SERVICES COMMISSION
Commission Chairman Simenson opened up the discussion with a review of what had
come before the Human Rights and Services Commission during the past year.
Marcia Lockman told about the Human Service Needs Board and the Data Bank Task Force
and Support Group Task Force which have been formed.
Simenson spoke about the No-Fault Grievance Procedure and the work the group is doing
in Eden Prairie.
Discussion centered on the role the Council and the Commission should have in dealing
with the South Hennepin Human Services Council . The consensus was that Jan Flynn
would be the Staff liaison and receive and distribute all matters to the Human Rights
and Services Commission from South Hennepin. Matters requiring Council action/atten-
tion would be channeled through the Human Rights and Services Commission which would
act in an advisory capacity as outlined in Resolution No. 81-14.
It was agreed that it would be helpful , both from the standpoint of the Council as
well as the Commission, if occasional updates on Commission activities were given
before the Council under the "Reports of Officers, Boards & Commissions" portion of
the Council meeting.
