HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 89-209 - Supporting Funding for Home and SHHS Council in 1990 Budget - 10/17/1989 CITY OF EDEN PRAIRIE HENNEPIN COUNTY RESOLUTION NO. 89-209 f RESOLUTION SUPPORTING FUNDING FOR H.O.M.E. AND SOUTH HENNEPIN HUMAN SERVICES COUNCIL IN 1990 HENNEPIN COUNTY BUDGET WHEREAS, the Hennepin County 1990 proposed budget eliminates funding for the H.O.tf.E . program which provides critical service to seniors and handicapped citizens residing in our communities, and WHEREAS, the Hennepin County 1990 proposed budget eliminates all funding for community planning and coordination and citizen participation process to the Human Services Councils including South Hennepin Human Services Council (SHFiSC) , and WHEREAS, elimination of these funds will significantly impair the funciton of SHHSC which, through a Joint powers agreement between Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Edina, and Richfield, is charged with the responsibility of human services planning and coordination between and among these four cities , and WHEREAS, elimination of these funds will totally dissolve the formal process for solicitation of citizen input as to guidelines to determine priorities in area human service funding, and WHEREAS, the South Hennepin Human Services Council has in the past shown itself to play an important and beneficial role in human services development and delivery such as: Emergency Assistance Program Housing Assistance Program Comprehensive Study of Human Services in South Hennepin South Hennepin Family and Childrens' Service THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City of Eder, Prairie requests that the Hennepin County Commissioners continue to appropriate the level of funding necesssary to maintain the H.O.M.E. program and South Hennepin Human Services Council in 1990.
