The low bid for general construction appears to be Magney Construction Company at $1,653,0m, mechanical construction appears to be Consolidated Plumbing and Heating and Cooling Company at $485,800, electrical work Weaver Electric at $210,494, and ice rink system Holmsten Ice Rinks at $238,110, for a total base bid of $2,587,404. This base bid includes everything proposed by the City Council at the design development meeting with the architect. At that time, the architect estimated the cost to be $2,800,000. When reviewing the bid summary sheets, the base bid is listed first and all of the alternates are deducts. For example, if the Council determined that they wanted to deduct the wading pool from the Magney Construction Company bid, we would subtract $21,000 from his base bid, etc. The attached sheets from the specifications detail what the alternates include. In a couple of instances, example atlernate G-12, the alternate may be either a deduct or add on cost. The minus figure indicates a deduct, the plus means an add and NC indicated no change in the bid. The Smiley Glotter firm will review all of the bids and provide a letter making a recommendation on the contractors and the bids for your review at the September 30, special meeting.
